ABOUT US

The Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild is for residents in and around Knoxville who have an interest in modern design and quilting. We hope to provide members with a community where modern quilters can meet, share ideas and and create in an environment that encourages creativity and acceptance. Our guild is a member of the International Modern Quilt Guild. One of the original founders of the Modern Quilt Guild Alissa Haight-Carlton organized the first modern quilt guild meeting in January 2010. Our founder Mary Beth Meadows contacted Alissa and took steps to establish the Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild in February of that same year.

MONTHLY MEETINGS - The KMQG meets monthly (
one Saturday per month) Please check our online Calendar or our Facebook page for the most up-to-date information.

RETREATS - We try to have a spring/fall retreat scheduled each year.  More details will be released as events are planned. Be sure to check our calendar for the most up to date information.

CHARITY WORK - We work hard to be involved in the community by giving back to Knoxville in the best way we know how - with quilts!  We are currently sponsoring The Restoration House of East Tennessee and aim to donate at least 6 quilts a year to them, and more as needed. We have participated in quilt block drives for Quilts of Valor, local families in need and other communities as needed. Check our website for the most up to date information on current charity drives.

DUES - We are very thankful that as of yet, we have not had to pay for our meeting space! As such, 2016 dues are quite reasonable at $40 annually- they are required for membership.

ONLINE - Join us on Flickr, Facebook! Share photographs of your latest work and get involved! We are in the midst of transitioning to a new website - a member's only site at www.themodernquiltguild.com. As such, unless you pay dues, you will be unable to view that content. But don't worry, eventually we will have a landing page with meeting event dates and information for you to view if you choose not to become a member at this time. Until then you may continue to refer to our non member blog

We hope that you’ll come visit us! If you already know you are interested in truly formalizing your membership with the Knoxville Modern Quilt Guild, please contact us. At that time we will forward information to you about submitting annual dues. Once completed, you will be added to our member roster, provided access to our website and member pages, updated on our mailing list as well as receiving a list of additional member benefits.

Otherwise, you are welcome to join us for a meeting. After that we hope you will want to secure your membership and become a part of this exciting quilting movement. If you have the time, please take a moment to look over the MQG’s article,What is Modern Quilting?”. It may answer some questions you may have. Hope to see you soon.

  1. I have been looking over the entry form for the show. Not familiar with the catagories, so I'm not sure which ones to put my quilts in. Need explainations and/or help! Thanks.
